Why I’m Writing This Blog

I’m only writing this blog because the internet told me it would help with SEO.

That’s it. No deep desire to overshare. No dream of becoming Bangkok’s next comedy thought-leader. Just cold, calculated keyword placement.

Now, I’m not that good at business — clearly, because if blogging was this important (and easy)(and free) for visibility, I probably should’ve done it back when the club on Khaosan was actually open. Might’ve helped. Who knew? I was never good at marketing anyway — I was too busy being harassed on the street, making lineups, writing jokes, restocking the bar, DJing, paying taxes, corresponding with international headliners and cleaning toilets.

It’s a shame, too. Everyone, and I mean anyone who came through the doors at the old venue would tell me the worst thing about the club was the marketing.

Real quotes:

“The shows were great… once I actually found out you existed.”

“It wasn’t the lineups, the drinks, or the venue that needs help — it was the part where you let people know there was a comedy club.”

“The club was beautiful. I just didn’t know it existed until it closed.”

I can only blame myself. If I only knew a marketing genius.

But hey — hindsight is 20/20 and apparently written in long-form blog content now. So here I am. Writing a blog. Not because I crave it or I'm going to say anything important, but because the algorithm demands a sacrifice.

I’ll play the game. I’ve got things to say anyway — and if telling the truth helps my page rank, even better. If You're Still Reading… Congrats, you’re helping my bounce rate, whatever that is. Apparently that’s good for SEO, too.

While you’re here, let me be clear:

I produce some of the best stand-up comedy shows across Thailand.

I’ve worked with comedy legends and fresh voices from all over the world. I love comedy and my new website — funwithlex.com — is full of info, April Macie will be here in a couple weeks, and whatever this is.

Final thoughts... I’m not trying to become an influencer. I’m a comedian. A real one. One who writes jokes, performs them, and sometimes vents through a blog to make Google happy. So yeah. That’s why I’m writing this.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to a few more keyword-stuff “Bangkok comedy,” “Thailand stand up shows,” “English language comedy in Asia,” "What to do on Thursday night Bangkok" and maybe “Where to pick up girls in Thailand” into a few more meta tags before the SEO gods change their mind again.

I'm about to make it to page 2 on Google within 2 months and I haven't spent a dime!
