A Thank You I Owe a Lot of People

I've been meaning to write this for a while, and I kept putting it off because I wanted to be able to say it with the whole thing finished.

To everyone who donated to the GoFundMe: it worked. Not "it helped." It worked. Every debt got paid — my staff, the comedians, and yes, the Thai government. Thank you to everyone who believed in me.

I know a version of this story went around where it ended differently. I get why that version was more fun for certain people to tell. It's just not true. The Comedy Joint is still mine, still standing, and I settled every obligation I walked in with.

For now I'm back in the States, surrounded by the friends and family who know the real story of what happened these past 2 years. I am looking forward to getting back to Thailand, just not today.

There are projects in motion I'm genuinely excited about — including some outside comedy that I'll say more about soon. The work is good. The direction is right. I also feel like myself again, which after the last couple of years is not a small thing to be able to say.

And I'm writing and getting back onstage, more and more. That's the part I'm always most excited about.
